It would be hard to find a person that hasn’t directly or indirectly been affected by the many cancers that plague us.
Losing my friend to cancer at 18 had a profound effect on me then and continues to, to this day.
Sadly, others have now followed and I don't think I will ever stop crying, why!
According to the Australian Institute of health, 2011 -
‘One in nine women will be diagnosed with breast cancer before the age of 85’.
As bad as that is, like many in the beauty industry that regularly get to talk with lots of women, the incidence seems like it is much higher. Listening to the many tragic stories it is impossible to not be affected or to be blasé about the constant threat hanging over us all.
Though it sometimes feels like we are in an overwhelming and unwinnable battle, I believe we can make a difference by making and encouraging sensible environment, diet and lifestyle decisions and especially by supporting each other.
This is why I personally give to BCNA and also encourage others to do the same.
Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) works to ensure that women diagnosed with breast cancer, and their families, receive the very best information, treatment, care and support possible, no matter who they are or where they live.
