Style For Cancer Makeup Masterclass Fundraiser
We recently hosted a Look & Learn Makeup Masterclass—a fantastic day of learning, fun, and giving back for a great cause. Our mission was to raise awareness and funds for the Look Good Feel Better charity, as part of the Style for Cancer community initiative. This program empowers people with cancer to regain control, confidence, and a sense of self.
The event took place in the Function Room at Vikings Surf Club on the Gold Coast and was hosted by Kylie’s Professional - Kylie Eustace, award-winning “Clean” Makeup Artist, on August 25th, 2024. We were honored to have Kate Pryor, a dedicated Look Good Feel Better volunteer, as our special guest speaker, sharing her insights about the remarkable work of the charity.
The Masterclass was a watch and learn workshop brimming with knowledge, practical tips, and the latest pro artist secrets. We covered everything from skincare prep to a full day-to-evening makeup demonstration, tailored for all age groups, face shapes, eye shapes, and skin types. Guests learned how to personalize their makeup routine—discovering the best blush placement, techniques for enhancing their eye shape, and mastering highlighting, shading, and bronzing techniques. We also discussed colour theory and how to choose shades that complement individual features.
100% of ticket sales were donated to the Style for Cancer / Look Good Feel Better program. Our amazing raffles featured over $1,200 worth of gifts, and every guest received a goodie bag valued at over $300. We were fortunate to have incredible healthy and clean brands contribute to both the gifts and raffles (a full list of contributors will be provided below).
So far, we’ve raised $2,800, and we still have 10 goodie bags available for purchase at only $79 each. All proceeds from these sales will be donated to Look Good Feel Better.

Look Good Feel Better is a national cancer-support program. We offer free in-person and online workshops and Confidence Kits to help people with any type of cancer manage the most common physical and psychological impacts of treatment. In providing practical tips and tools, we help connect a community of people living a shared experience; empowering them to regain control, confidence, and a sense of self.
History of Look Good Feel Better
Look Good Feel Better began in the USA in 1989. A health professional working with a cancer patient who felt so depressed and self-conscious she wouldn’t leave her hospital room approached the president of the Personal Care Products Council to organise a makeover for her.
The physical and emotional change in the patient was so profound that it became clear there was a need for a service that could be offered to all cancer patients to help them manage the appearance-related side effects of cancer treatment.
One year later, the program was brought to Australia by Julie Carriol who had attended one of the first workshops in New York, witnessing the same incredible transformation in the other attendees.
Julie petitioned hospitals and garnered the support of the cosmetic industry in Australia and the first workshop was held at Westmead Hospital in Sydney in May 1990.
Today the program remains a free, national community service program managed by a small team of team of staff. The program relies on the support of 800 trained cosmetic, beauty and hairdressing professionals who volunteer their time and expertise to help deliver the workshops across Australia.
The Cancer Patients Foundation, responsible for running the Look Good Feel Better program, is an independent not-for-profit organisation, not affiliated with any other cancer charity or support service. With no government funding, the Cancer Patients Foundation relies on the generosity of corporate and community supporters to allow for the Look Good Feel Better program to be provided to cancer patients free-of-charge.
More information about how you can support the Look Good Feel Better program is available on our Fundraise for us, Our events and Ways to give pages.
The Cancer Patients Foundation Limited (ABN 80 051 758 368) is a charity endorsed as a deductible gift recipient and donations $2 and over are tax-deductible.
